Your bra size is two numbers: the band (28, 30, 32, 34 …) measured under your bust, and the cup (A, B, C, D, E) which is the difference between your bust and your band. Find your band row, then move across to the cup that matches your bust measurement. All measurements are in inches; the cm chart is below.

Example: underbust 29 inches and bust 36 inches = band 34, cup B = 34B.

How to measure your bra size at home

You need a soft measuring tape (an inch tape from a tailoring kit works) and a non-padded bra or no bra. Stand straight in front of a mirror and keep the tape level all the way round.

1. Measure your underbust (band). Wrap the tape directly under your bust, where the bra band sits. Pull it snug but not tight, and breathe out. Note the number in inches.
2. Convert to band size. If the underbust number is even, add 4. If it is odd, add 5. So 28 inches becomes band 32, and 29 inches becomes band 34.
3. Measure your bust. Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, usually across the nipples. Keep it loose enough that it does not press the breast tissue.
4. Find your cup. Subtract the band size from the bust measurement. 1 inch = A, 2 inches = B, 3 inches = C, 4 inches = D, 5 inches = E (also written DD), 6 inches = F.
5. Check the fit. The band should sit level across your back on the loosest hook when new, the centre panel should touch your breastbone, and the straps should not dig in. If the band rides up, go down a band size and up a cup (see sister sizes below).

Sister sizes: when your usual size is out of stock

Sister sizes have the same cup volume on a different band. Go down one band and up one cup, or up one band and down one cup. The cup letter changes but the actual cup stays the same size.

Signs you are wearing the wrong bra size

• The band rides up your back: the band is too loose. Go down a band size.
• Straps dig into your shoulders: the band is doing too little work. Go down a band size, up a cup.
• Breast tissue spills over the top or sides: the cup is too small. Go up a cup.
• Gaps or wrinkles in the cup: the cup is too big. Go down a cup.
• The underwire sits on breast tissue instead of under it: go up a cup or try a different style such as a non-wired bra.

Re-measure every six months, and after weight change, pregnancy or a change in exercise routine. Most women are between sizes in at least one brand, so use the chart as a starting point and the fit check as the final word.

Bra size FAQs

What does 34B mean?

34 is the band size: your underbust is about 29–30 inches. B is the cup: your bust is 2 inches larger than the band, about 36 inches. Read the full 34B bra size guide or see all 34B bras.

What is the difference between 32B and 34B?

Both are B cups, but 34B has a 2-inch longer band. Because cup volume grows with the band, a 34B cup is slightly larger than a 32B cup; 32C is the true sister size of 34B.

Which cup is bigger, B or C?

C is bigger. Each cup letter adds one inch to the difference between bust and band: A is 1 inch, B is 2 inches, C is 3 inches, D is 4 inches.

How do I measure bra size without a measuring tape?

Use a piece of string or a phone charging cable: wrap it around your underbust and bust, mark the length, then measure the string against a ruler or scale. Or use the bra size calculator with your best estimate and check the fit when the bra arrives.

Is 36 a big bra size?

36 is a band measurement, not a breast size. A 36A and a 36E have the same underbust but very different cups (see the 36 bra size guide). In India, 32B, 34B and 36B are the most common sizes we sell.

What is the Indian bra size for a 30-inch bust?

A bust of 30 inches with an underbust of 26–27 inches is usually 30B or 32A. Measure both and use the chart above.
